Here are a few day trips from Valencia
Hi there,
You can get a much more authentic experience traveling by going to some lesser-known destinations.
Because at this point — Valencia is one of Spain’s biggest travel spots.
But there are plenty of towns throughout the Valencian Country that are worth visiting!
So if you’re looking for more places to see in Valencia, here are my top recommendations:
XĂ tiva

Entrance to the castle
What’s to love?
✔️ 2,000-year-old castle
✔️ Cute city center
✔️ The history (it used to be the capital of the Kingdom of Valencia)
XĂ tiva is one of my favorite nearby towns. You can get here via the local train, which makes it the perfect spot for a day trip!
If you’re not sure where to go, but you want to see what a traditional Valencian town looks like — come here.
Just make sure to brush up on your Valencian!
PenĂscola

What’s to love?
✔️ Large beaches
✔️ Well-maintained castle
✔️ Winding streets
If you love seafood, Game of Thrones, and the blend of mountain & sea — then you’ll want to visit PenĂscola! It’s one of the most unique towns that has just a little bit of everything.
I had a fantastic time when I visited. It’s not huge, so a day-trip is enough. But if you want that classic medieval feel (while still being near the beach), then this is the stop for you.
Just note: you either need to rent a car or sign up for a tour to get there. The public bus takes foreverrrrr.
➡️ But this tour comes highly recommended, as it includes transport from Valencia!
Dénia

What’s to love?
✔️ Gorgeous beaches
✔️ Unbeatable views
✔️ Perfect for a getaway
This is the perfect option for somebody who wants to spend a few days away from the city. I recommend booking a lovely beach hotel and enjoying the pristine sea here.
In the south of Valencia (Alacant) — the waters are much more impressive than in Valencia. So if you’re sun, clear waters, and outdoor activities, then head over to Dénia.
It’s a bit further away, so I recommend spending 2-3 days here if you can. You’ll also want to rent a car to get here, or you can take a bus.
Just note that it will be more expensive, especially during peak season. But with beautiful beaches, hiking trails, and even a castle — it’s no wonder so many people love coming here.
Here you’ll find more English-speakers, but remember to also be kind to the locals by learning a few phrases in Valencian!
