FREE Museums in Valencia

In case you need to escape from the sun šŸ˜Ž

If I had a quarter for every time someone told me ā€œomg it’s so hot outā€

Well, I’d definitely have enough money to finally put an A/C in my apartment…

(RIP me) šŸ”„

So one of my favorite ways to beat the heat is to head into the museums.

And since Valencia has a TON of museums — I wanted to give you a list of the ones that are free.

This way you get some free air conditioning, and you get to learn a bit about the culture and history.

So it’s a win-win for everyone.

Here are the free museums to visit in Valencia:

The City Hall

From Monday—Friday you can visit the inside for free. There’s a small history museum, an enormous ā€œSala dels Cristallsā€ (Crystall Hall), plus the original flag from the Conquest of Valencia.

So you know, around 800 years of history.

I HIGHLY recommend this to travelers. Especially because everyone seems to forget it exists for some reason?

Museu de Belles Arts

If you’re a fan of art — then this is the spot for you. This is a super famous art museum overlooking the Turia Gardens. You’ll find artworks from Sorolla, Goya, and lots of renaissance artists.

You can easily spend over an hour in here, so it’s the perfect spot for a break.

MuVIM

The Museu ValenciĆ  de l’Ilustració i la Modernitat. This is a modern art museum that’s right outside the city center.

It’s a great option for people who prefer the avant-garde and want to see something a bit different.

CCCC

Hidden in an old convent, the Centre del Carme de Cultura ContemporĆ nea is a really fun exhibit. They have constantly-changing exhibitions scattered throughout.

There’s something different just about every week. Plus concerts, meet-n-greets, and other events.

So even if you visit to enjoy the architecture — it’s well worth it!

Museu Etnològic

Want to learn more about Valencian Culture? Here’s where to go.

You’ll get an inside look into what it means to be Valencian. This ethnological museum is enormous and highlights Valencian culture — from the Conquest to modern days.

Other Museums

I highly recommend checking out the Falles Museum. It’s not free — but it’s 100% worth it! It’s just a couple euros per perso,n and you can pay when you get there.

The Science Museum is another great option — but only if you have kids or you just really love science. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here. The outside is the noteworthy part.

Pro Tip:

And if you want to get into the Aquarium, I do recommend getting your tickets ahead of time to avoid the lines.

They don’t usually sell out — but this will help you avoid waiting 30+ minutes in the sun for a ticket!

Bon viatge,
Kevin
