The #1 Tip for Les Falles
Here's how you can avoid the tourist traps
Hi friends,
Here’s a pro tip from anyone visiting Valencia soon.
➡️ Order your sweet treats in Valencian, not Spanish.
Because during Les Falles — we get a loooooot of people that come to the city just to take advantage of tourists.
But the easiest way to spot a tourist trap is by speaking to them in Valencian.
That’s because the people from Valencia, making Valencian recipes — know how to speak the language! But people running the tourist traps don’t.
So I wanted to make a quick guide to help you order your bunyols and xurros this year.

Example Expressions
Valencian | English |
---|---|
Bon dia | Hello |
Em poses mitja dotzena de bunyols? | Could I have a half-dozen bunyols? |
Amb una tassa de xocolate | With a cup of (hot) chocolate |
Teniu figues albardaes? | Do you have stuffed figs? |
Amb targeta, per favor | I’ll pay by card, please. |
Moltes gràcies | Thank you very much |
Adeu | Goodbye |
That should be everything you need to successfully navigate a full bunyol-related conversation in Valencian!
Feel free to customize it (like replace mitja dotzena with however many you want).
⭐️ Also — if a stall DOES sell figues albardaes, then they are 100% legit. It’s a hidden gem that I highly recommend!
And if you have any questions — just send me a message! Always happy to help.
Bones festes,
Kevin
