🔥 Les Falles is coming
Here’s what you need to know

In just about a month, València is going to be celebrating its BIGGEST festival of the year.
And by big, I mean that over a million tourists are coming to see it.
(The city only has around 800k residents, btw).
đź«‚ Crowded streets
🎆 Fireworks
🧑‍🎨 700 works of art the size of an apartment building
And a whooooole lot of partying.
Let me put it this way:
Love it or hate it — València during Les Falles is just an ENTIRELY different city.
So if you’re planning on visiting València during this festival, let’s go over what to expect.
And if you’re thinking — what the heck, I didn’t even know about this!?
Then stick around to discover what is truly a one-of-a-kind celebration.
Things to Expect
Let me give you a quick list:
VERY thick crowds
Constant loud noises
24/7 partying
The most amazing fireworks you’ll ever see
A truly unique celebration
Because Les Falles is a springtime festival that uses a combination of satirical art and fire to symbolize the beginning of a new cycle.
We build breathtaking monuments that criticize society, the government, celebrities, trends — and then burn them all to the ground on March 19th.
It’s an awe-inspiring festival that you really need to experience to understand.
…but it’s not for everyone.
I have to admit: if firecrackers or crowds scare you — then this is NOT the time to visit.
As much as I love it, it can be overwhelming if you’re not prepared.
Top Tips for Planning Your Trip
If you are coming during Les Falles, let’s talk about a few ways you can get a better experience:
Do not stay in the city center.
It’s truly just too chaotic. Choose a neighborhood just outside the city center so you can enjoy the festival (while also getting some sleep). I have a guide to help you pick a hotel outside the center.
Get a VIP pass if you want to skip the crowds
Just note: this is 100% NOT necessary. You CAN see the monuments without this pass. This just lets you get up-close and personal in a fenced-off area where you can walk right up to the monument. If you’re coming for the art, then I 100% suggest this.
Check the schedule
There are SO many events taking place. La Crida, La Ofrenda, La Nit del Foc, Els Correfocs — so many things are happening.
So make sure you double-check the schedule. This is a link to my article on LAST year’s schedule. The official schedule won’t be out until early March — but this will give you a great way to plan your trip, since it should be relatively similar.
Bring earplugs
Crucial. Do not skip this step.
Just embrace the crazy
I think this is the best piece of advice I can give you. Les Falles is a festival where people just let it all out. People are celebrating, having fun with their friends, and really going all out.
So just accept the fact that things will be chaotic. People will bump into you.
But if you come mentally prepared, you’ll enjoy it a million times more.
