Here's what to do in June

Hi viatgers,

If you’re coming to Valencia in June, here are the holidays you need to know about:

Corpus Christi

On the 19th of June, Valencia celebrates Corpus Christi. This used to be the biggest holiday of the year.

(Before Les Falles took that over).

Basically, you can expect to see parades with large monuments being carried throughout the city.

They are called Roques and some of these monuments are hundreds of years old!

So definitely something to stick around for.

Sant Joan.

Ever want to jump over bonfires on the beach? Then on June 23rd, make sure you celebrate the Summer Solstice with Valencians.

It’s a super fun holiday — and just about every town does it differently.

But in Valencia, people will set up huge bonfires at La Malva-rosa beach and then jump over them all night, before going for a nighttime swim.

Beach lovers will definitely enjoy this one.

Orgull

June 28th marks the Valencia Pride Parade.

Although this year — there’s no official, city-sponsored afterparty.

Instead, all of the LGBT Organizations have declared a protest instead. So on the Stonewall Anniversary, you can march with Valencians for a continued fight for equal rights.

And then if you want to have some fun — lots of LGBTQIA+ establishments will host some fun events, as well.

June is one of my favorite months in Valencia, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Bon viatge,

Kevin
